I had to share this with my husband also. Way to start my morning with crying!! But it was amazing, I'll have to watch it again later. Thanks for finding my blog, I'm glad to have found yours too. By the way, I clicked on the link about the stem cell therapy you're interested in doing, and I wanted to tell you that I've recently found out that I should be able to keep my next baby's cord blood and use it to do stem cell therapy with Avery. Duke university in NC specialise in stem cell therapy for children with hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy. I haven't looked into the cost yet, and I don't know whether you're going to have more children, but I thought you might be interested too. Also, I'm looking into alternative therapies right now for my daughter, and I've found some very interesting articles on massage therapy for children with cerebral palsy - just wondered whether you knew anything about it? Sorry, lots of stuff for a first time commenter...!
I will have to look into Duke again, the reason we have decided to go out of the country is that we have been on a wait list at Duke for about 2 years now. We have been told that as of right now Duke is only taking patients that have saved their own cord blood. I would love to talk about different alternative therapies with you. I am a massage therapist and try to work on Zach as often as I can. I think there is an old video on our youtube that has me massaging Zach. (www.youtube.com/ncharlan) I think massage can do a lot for kids with spastic CP.
I am a follower of Christ, a wife, a mother, massage therapist and more. I love my family.
My job is now being a mom to my little man who keeps me busier than I ever imagined. My son has Cerebral Palsy so my life is pretty much filled with running him from appointment to appointment just hoping that they can in some way help him to have a "normal" life as he grows. (what ever "normal" means anyway) Being the mom of a special needs child can at times be overwhelming but I feel so blessed that the Lord saw fit for me to have this job.
I love my husband and thank God for him everyday. We are so different but I couldn't be happier about that or we would never make it through the tough times in this life.
This is simply amazing and very eye-opening. Thank you so much for sharing.
